Exploring Newhaven
One of the things I love most about moving to a new town is getting to explore new places. This time, I don’t just have a new town to explore, but a whole new county. After doing some research, I decided on the small port town of Newhaven on the East Sussex coast.
The 3 Peaks Challenge: My Story
Training for the 3 Peaks has certainly kept me busy over the last few months. And back at the beginning of September, the challenge finally arrived. After months of training, I finally found myself sitting in a hotel room in Fort William.
My Bucket List Plans for Turning 40
This year, I’m setting out on one big bucket list adventure. Ahead of my 40th Birthday in December, I’ve set myself a little challenge. There’s some stuff that I’ve had on my bucket list for a while. So I thought, why not make it into a ‘thing’ in the lead-up to my BIG 40?
October: Dartmoor, Stalking Deer and an Autumn Retreat
Wow! What an epic month of adventuring October turned out to be! I can go months without seeing people, and then I have a crazy month of socialising and going places. Being an introvert at heart, I find socialising tiring. So as much as it’s been fun, I’m ready to hide away for a bit now!
The Sculpture Park, Surrey
My trip to the Sculpture Park coincided with something new I’m trialling this year with my working week. I’m attempting a four-day working week instead of the ‘normal’ five days. I have no idea how practical this will be. But one of the beauties of being a freelancer is having the flexibility to set my own hours.
Brean Down – Everything You Need To Know
There were two places I wanted to visit during our family trip to Somerset back in September: Cheddar Gorge and Brean Down. I ticked Cheddar Gorge off on my way to Somerset, which just left Brean Down to visit. This would be the final destination on our family trip to Somerset.
Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-On-Sea, and Brean
The last time I had been to Somerset was on a family trip to Weston Super Mare 30+ years ago. Needless to say, I couldn’t remember much about it! This time, I began my journey in Cheddar Gorge, and then drove to Brean to meet up with the rest of the family.
The Best Way To See Cheddar Gorge
Somerset is in South West England, and is one of the largest counties in the UK. It’s also famous for Cheddar Cheese, Cider and sinking sand!
I had been to Somerset once before many years ago. My only memory was eating hot, sugary doughnuts on a very wet and cold pier in Weston-super-Mare.
Mental Health Awareness Week
It’s Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK this week.
Mental health is something we all have. Everyone has a different level of physical health, and it’s the same for our mental health, too.
I’ve had a front row seat watching family and friends who’ve suffered from poor mental health since my teens.
Claremont Landscape Garden
During a week off work earlier this month, I paid a visit to Claremont Landscape Garden, a Grade 1, 18th century listed garden, close to the village of Esher, in Surrey. I’d never been before, but after a week of job hunting and sitting in front of my laptop, I decided it was time to get out and about for some fresh air and to have a little explore.
Ham House
As Autumn began to arrive in suburbia, I decided it was time to get my walking boots back on. I was looking forward to getting out and exploring my new surroundings. I started searching for walks online and came across a route starting at Kingston railway station. The route would take me along the Thames Path to Ham House & Gardens, heading back to Kingston via Richmond Park.
Finding Respite for my Muddled Mind in Holland Park
This weekend, I found myself with some alone time. I needed some space and time to think, reflect and soak up the late October sunshine. I headed to the local market yesterday thinking I would stop by to look for some upcoming birthday presents. The market was celebrating its own birthday and was busier than normal.
Exploring Fulham Palace House and Gardens
Did you know there is a Palace tucked away in leafy Fulham? At the start of this year, I promised myself more London adventures. Not the usual tourist hotspots, but quieter corners of the city. London is full of hidden gems if you take the time to look for them.
Virginia Water
What better way to start a week off in August than a day out in the rain! Not deterred by the weather, I loaded my rucksack and headed to Virginia Water. Virginia Water itself is a small town just outside London, nestled in the Surrey countryside. It’s one of the most expensive places to live in the UK.
St Albans, Jogging and a Social Media Detox
The weekend included a trip to St Albans for a lovely brunch with family and a new year clear out. St. Albans was a beautiful, peaceful place, and the clear out felt therapeutic. Despite challenges, I’m determined to achieve my goals of exercising more and spending less time on social media.
Kensington Palace Gardens
Feeling under the weather but craving fresh air, I ventured to Kensington Palace Gardens for a peaceful autumn escape. Amid royal history, stunning gardens, and a surprise visit to Princess Diana’s Memorial Fountain, my spirits lifted. From a hearty pub meal to picturesque strolls, this unexpected day out offered just the tonic I needed.
