Review: Thirteen Moons More by Andi Webb

I’ve surpassed myself this year. In a reading sense, that is!

Whilst it wasn’t one of my goals at the beginning of the year, I silently gave myself the challenge of reading a different book each month.

I’ve always been a big reader. However, in recent years, it’s become easier to scroll than to pick up a book. In my case, the intense working schedule I had up until the beginning of this year probably didn’t help. My mind was often left boggled by the time I got into bed. It had become far easier to sit in bed scrolling than it was to try and get my head into a book.

This year, I’ve found myself getting back into reading, and I’ve loved every minute of it.

One of my summer reads was by the fabulous Andi Webb. For those who are unfamiliar with Andi’s work, I first stumbled across Andi here on WordPress. He’s one of our very own! I used to love reading Andi’s blog ‘Diary of a Gay Dad’, and his tales of family life would keep me amused for hours.

Andi’s first novel, ‘Eighteen Moons’, had been a great read (you can find my review of ‘Eighteen Moons’ here), so when I had the opportunity to read ‘Thirteen Moons More’, I couldn’t wait to get started.

Andi has written ‘Thirteen Moons More’ in diary form, with each chapter being about the events of each month in the year leading up to his three youngest children starting school.

Not only is ‘Thirteen Moons More’ a fascinating insight into Andi and his family’s life in the ‘Shires’, but he also includes some fab recipes that I’m looking forward to trying out too.

In ‘Thirteen Moons More’, Andi writes about adventures, tantrums and the occasional trip to casualty. ‘Thirteen Moons More’ is a heartwarming tale of family life with all the highs and lows thrown in for good measure.

I live in hope Andi will one day sell his infamous ‘Dadda’s Jam’ online as his intriguing combinations sound divine!

If you love a simple, easy read about family life, you’ll love Thirteen Moons More. It made me smile, chuckle, and at times, it made me cringe with some of the ‘adventures’ the not so famous five got up to!
